Taos Pueblo Senior Diabetes Prevention
There are also 23 elders from Taos Pueblo Senior Diabetes PP that prepare and share a meal at the Taos Food Center twice each month. A local nutritionist provides key information about each ingredient used and works with the elders in designing the menu. The Food Center is the focus of this exciting program where this year 27 elders from Taos Pueblo came to prepare a meal with the Program nutritionist once or twice a month. Popular meals are replicated using healthy, low sugar and fresh ingredients as part of the diabetes prevention program. One added benefit to TCEDC’s clients is the learning and exchange that naturally takes place between the youth and the elders as well as others using the commercial kitchen.
