TCEDC hosted its third “Forum” with invited tribal groups and land-based peoples from around the country. Focusing on youth/elder partnerships in “Bringing the Best of the Past into the Future”. TCEDC incorporated its Creating Community Through Cooking™ curriculum into the program and added two new components based on this successful model; Creating Community Through Art™ & Creating Community Through Music™.
The goal of this forum was to engage young people in the issues around community food security and social justice by not only learning from elders but also by sharing their knowledge and concerns as well. There were over seventy (70) participants exchanging ideas and creating strategies to pay closer attention to food and traditional food ways that supported “the people” for centuries and look at activities to bring some of these back.
